RPRA selected for performance audit by the Office of the Auditor General of Ontario
The Office of the Auditor General (OAG) of Ontario has selected RPRA as one of the organizations that will undergo a performance audit this year. The audit aims to evaluate RPRA’s effectiveness in fulfilling our mandate under the Resource Recovery and Circular Economy Act, 2016 and the Waste Diversion Transition Act, 2016, and their associated regulations.
The OAG is an independent office of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario. The Auditor General’s responsibilities include assessing the performance of organizations within the province’s public and broader public sectors. The Auditor General’s findings are detailed in the OAG’s Annual Report, which is typically tabled at the end of the calendar year in the Legislative Assembly.
Over the past several years, the OAG has systematically audited Ontario’s administrative authorities and its findings have supported enhanced service delivery, transparency and accountability. Past reports on administrative authorities can be found on the OAG’s website.
RPRA is working closely with the OAG to respond to information requests and looks forward to addressing the Auditor General’s recommendations at the conclusion of the audit process.
